Good leaders practice diversity. Good leaders are diverse in their personal interests, well rounded in life and have an outside life beyond their businesses. Poor leaders are narrow in scope and usually hire other people just like themselves who are also limited and boring. For example, young white guys always hire a bunch of other young white guys and every solution to every problem that business will ever have is from that narrow perspective. Practice diversity in your own life and in your hiring of the people who work for you. Think rainbow and hire a wide range of characters off all colors, shapes and orientations and while you’re being crazy, actually read a book this week that doesn’t have anything to do with what you do for a living.
